Of course, a gas barbecue, just like a charcoal barbecue, needs thorough maintenance from time to time. Only then can you enjoy delicious and safe barbecue parties for years. Here are a few tips on how to maintain your gas barbecue.

How to maintain your gas barbecue?

How do you maintain the enamelled parts of your gas barbecue?

Enamelled parts are very easy to maintain. Let your barbecue cool down and clean it with a damp cloth and a little bit of mild detergent. The Barbecook foam cleaner is also a handy tool for maintaining the enamelled parts of your gas barbecue. Allow to soak in for a moment and rinse with a sponge and warm water. Never start cleaning too soon after your party, but wait until your gas barbecue has cooled down sufficiently.

Tip: Never pour cold water into an enamelled bowl which is still hot, as this may damage the enamel.

How do you maintain the stainless steel parts of your gas barbecue?

Many people think that stainless steel is completely maintenance-free and cannot rust. Unfortunately this information isn’t correct. It’s important to clean stainless steel parts regularly in order to prolong the lifespan of your gas barbecue and to avoid problems with contamination and corrosion. Be careful with aggressive cleaning products when maintaining stainless steel, rather choose pH-neutral soap or the Barbecook foam cleaner. If you want to prevent rust on your gas barbecue, make sure that the stainless steel parts of your gas barbecue do not come in contact with chlorine or iron. Always make sure that you thoroughly dry the stainless steel parts of your gas barbecue after maintenance!

Small tip: when maintaining your gas barbecue, pay some extra attention to the bowl and drip trays.

How do you maintain the barbecue grids of your gas barbecue?

The barbecue grids are one of the most important parts of your gas barbecue. For this reason we advise you to clean them after every barbecue session. The easiest way is to leave the barbecue on for about 10 minutes after your barbecue session with all burners on the highest position. This will burn off the biggest dirt from the barbecue grids. After this you can easily brush away the remaining dirt with one of the many Barbecook accessories. It is very important to always make sure that the barbecue grids of your gas barbecue are sufficiently cooled down and dry before storing them.

Is your barbecue going to take a long rest? After thorough maintenance, rub the grids lightly with some vegetable oil, wrap them in paper and store them indoors.

Storage of your gas barbecue

Are you done cleaning your barbecue? Then dry everything thoroughly and store your barbecue in a dry place. A garage, garden shed or covered terrace is ideal for this. Make it a habit to put a Barbecook cover around your gas barbecue after each use and maintenance, both in winter and summer. However, always make sure that your barbecue has cooled down sufficiently! Barbecook offers regular covers and premium covers. To prevent rust, it’s advisable to take off the cover after every rainstorm and let it dry in the sun.
